Admission typically depends on your grades along with performance in the LSAT (Law School Admission Test). The education requirement for admission to dental colleges in US is a minimum of three or more years of liberal arts study at bachelor’s level. Also certain basic pre-dental courses should be studies before you can apply to a dental college. Most dental colleges have their specific requirements as well which should be met.

To appear for DAT, You should have completed at least a year of college, with courses in biology and chemistry (general and organic). As an applicant of DAT, you should take the test well in advance to actual admission to a dental school.

You will have to apply online at the ADA website, using your credit card, for the test and will have to acquire the DENTPIN, which is your unique identification as a test taker. And Quantitative Reasoning Test, having 40 questions to be done in 45 minutes. Questions on Mathematical Problems – Algebra (equations and expressions, inequalities, exponential notation, absolute value, ratios and proportions, and graphical analysis); Numerical calculations (fractions and decimals, percentages, approximations, and scientific notation); Conversions (temperature, time, weight, and distance); Probability and Statistics; Geometry; and Trigonometry.

Your score is dependent on the number of correct answers, and there is no negative marking.

Once you have given the test, you will get an unofficial score card at the Prometric Test Center itself, which will contain the standard scores and the percentile equivalents. You will not receive any other score sheet. This unofficial score card will be audited before sending to dental colleges within a period of three to four weeks after you taken the test.

The scores are sent in terms of standard scores and not raw scores or percentile equivalents. This helps in the comparing of performance of the candidates who have appeared in the test. Score ranges between 1 to 30. a score of 17 is regarded as average.

You can retake the test after a period of 90 days since the last test date. But every time you will have to reapply and submit the fee in full.

DAT preparation materials is available on the ADA website free of cost. It contains samples of previous papers. It helps you understand the format, the subjects covered and the possible questions.

The DAT is a standardize format developed to augment dental education in the United States.

The common exams for study in UK are the English language proficiency test – the IELTS or TOEFL. And the GMAT for MBA.

For application to any institute at all levels of study, there are a few common requirements. They are your academic record in the form of mark sheets and transcripts, the statement of purpose, and letter of recommendation.

UCAS is the central organization that deals with the processing of applications sent for full time UG and PG programs in UK. According to the UK Border Agency, in the Points Based Immigration System, student visa falls under Tier 4 Student (General) legislation. The visa is initially a preliminary visa for a year, after which the extension dependent on the duration of the course. The visa is for a maximum of four years if it is a degree level program. For below degree level courses, you are given maximum stay of three years.

Your application should state that you shall leave the country when the course ends. You have to be able to pay for your stay in the country (course fee, accommodation, travel expenses and monthly living costs), without the need to work or take a loan, and have to submit concrete proof of the same. The documents to be submitted include – letter of acceptance from the education institute, valid passport or travel document, and passport sized photographs. And other supplementary documents like educational certificates.

If you have not got admission into a college or the confirmation letter from the particular institute, and if you want to go to UK to enroll to a course, you should apply for the visa as a Prospective Student.

A foreign student is supposed to attend a minimum of 15 hours of classroom study per week.

As an international student, you are allowed to work for a maximum of 20 hours per week during the term, and full time on holidays and vacations. You do not need special permission to work part time or full time as a student. Course related placements and internships can also be taken up.
